Meet the Founder
Driven by helping people access the support they need to move forward
Jackie Sweeney is a systems-focused leader, mental health professional, and master’s-level clinician who serves as a K–12 school social worker and school counselor, as well as an author, dedicated to expanding access to meaningful support for individuals and communities. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English and Communications from the University of Dayton and her Master’s degree in Education from Lesley University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in Systems Leadership, with a focus on developing integrated and sustainable approaches to mental health and student support.
In her professional role, Jackie works at the intersection of mental health, education, and systems coordination, supporting students, families, and educators as they navigate complex emotional, behavioral, and environmental challenges. Her work extends beyond direct care to include the development of structures and processes that improve access to support within school-based settings.
Through this experience, she has developed a deep understanding of the systemic barriers that limit access to care—particularly for individuals navigating high-demand environments without consistent resources. She has observed how gaps in coordination, funding, and accessibility can significantly impact outcomes, and how timely, well-aligned support can create meaningful and lasting change.
The Becoming U Foundation was established in response to these gaps. Grounded in both professional expertise and lived experience, the Foundation reflects Jackie’s commitment to building models of support that are flexible, accessible, and responsive to real-world needs. Rather than relying on rigid systems, her approach prioritizes adaptability, human-centered design, and long-term impact.
Her perspective is further shaped by her own experiences navigating growth, challenge, and change—informing a practice that is both clinically grounded and deeply attuned to the human experience. This dual lens continues to guide her work in creating spaces and systems where individuals feel supported, understood, and equipped to move forward.
Jackie’s work is guided by a core principle: access to support should not be conditional or difficult to obtain—it should be a reliable and integrated part of how individuals and communities function.
Through the Becoming U Foundation, she is advancing a broader vision of support—one that moves beyond isolated interventions and toward a more connected, equitable, and sustainable model of care.
